Key Insights

The size of the Nuclear Medicines Radioisotopes Market was valued at USD 8.82 USD billion in 2023 and is projected to reach USD 15.12 USD billion by 2032, with an expected CAGR of 8 % during the forecast period. Nuclear medicine involves the utilization of radioactive substances in medical procedures for diagnosis and sometimes treatment. These are radioisotopes which are unstable isotopes of atoms that give out radiation as they decompose. There are two main types: According to their nature, these can be divided into diagnostic and therapeutic. Diagnostic radioisotopes like, Technetium-99m are utilized in procedures like, PET and SPECT for creating images of inner organs and for identifying diseases. Iodine-131 for example, locates itself within the tissues of organs and cancers and kills the cancerous cells. Some of the characteristics of these isotopes involve its capacity to emit gamma rays for imaging or beta particles for therapy. It has a wide range of uses; these are used in the diagnosis of ailments such as heart diseases, cancer, and hyperthyroidism among other diseases, and in the treatment of some types of tumors. The level of accuracy and efficiency of these treatments makes radioisotopes extremely important in today’s medicine.
