Pyrometallurgical recycling involves the smelting of lead through the use of high-temperature furnaces while hydrometallurgical recycling involves the use of aqueous solutions for lead compounds. Some of the characterized operation characteristics of lead acid battery recycling include, high operative efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and material recovery of more than 80 percent of expendable lead and miscellaneous materials.
